JAN HUNTLEY-PEACE  Personal Statement

Accessories taken from the pages of a fairytale: sculpted woven chokers, bracelets and tiaras incorporating crystals, glass and precious stones.

I use an expert and unique combination of techniques to create seamless organic forms in silver or copper, in effect, treating wire as a textile, to be crocheted and spun into dramatic and exquisite pieces.

My evening bags, purses and shawls similarly use feminine juxtapositions of velvets, silks and sequins. Twenty years’ experience in the London couture fashion world guarantee a flair for interpretation, design and attention to detail.

I started my career with Zandra Rhodes, Jean Muir, David and Elizabeth Emanuel and also in an international capacity for the Queen’s dressmaker, Norman Hartnell. I also make sculptural costumes and props for the arial theatre company Skinning the Cat.

I have a degree in sculpture and fine art and it is this interface between creative inspiration, innovative techniques and exquisite detailing which make my work truly unique.
